x120e, May 25, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Lenovo Thinkpad X120E 11.6-Inch Laptop (Black) (Personal Computers) I was nervous at first because this is the base model and 1gb of memory was too slow to do pretty much anything. I ordered more memory (two 2gb) which was extremely easy to install (only 3 screws to remove entire back panel). The laptop is running a lot smoother now and I can have multiple internet pages up easily. Facebook flash games load with no problem and that was an issue with a Samsung netbook I had.
The build quality is great. The keyboard took a little bit of time to adjust to because I'm not use to having a trackpoint (which is actually nice to have). Heat isn't an issue with this laptop - I've watched a movie on Netflix and it didn't seem warm at all after two hours. Battery life isn't great compared to the netbook I had. With the screen brightness turned down nearly all the way (it gets very dim!) it was saying I had 3.5hrs left. I haven't really tested if that is accurate time estimation or not. Excellent computer for $299.-, November 6, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Lenovo Thinkpad X120E 11.6-Inch Laptop (Black) (Personal Computers) Although some people were saying 'stay aware of this base model', I gave it a try and I bought 2 of this Lenovo x120E. I also added 4 GB of memory Ram for both of them.
I am really happy with them as they are light, powerful, durable, and nice looking. They are definitely NOT a netbook.
I would really recommend this producto for anyone like me who was looking for portable, light and inexpensive notebook for daily office use.

The computer, as shipped, is barely functional with the 1GB of RAM. But it is cheap and easy to add in an additional 4GB, at which point the computer runs just fine and is pretty snappy in performance.
Other than that, the case feels a bit cheap, and I have had some problems with keys sticking on the keyboard. Decent computer for the money, but expect a few shortcomings.
